NOTE: The data collection for this particular study is complete! If you would like to receive information about upcoming studies, however, e-mail us with your contact information. Check out the other studies on our site, too!
We are conducting a study on emotion and relationships in boys and girls aged 8-12. Participants are eligible to receive $100.00 for two sessions ($25 cash for child, $75 cash for parent).
What is required? You (preferably your child’s mother/mother figure) and your child will come to our laboratory at Pomona College on two separate occasions. While you are here, both you and your child will complete interviews about your relationships and questionnaires about your relationships, emotions, and life experiences. In addition, your child will participate in a computer task during which we will monitor what’s happening in his/her body (for example, measuring his/her heartrate).
Why are we doing this study? We are interested in learning more about how children and parents think and feel about the significant relationships in their lives and how this relates to children’s development.
What will you gain from participating? You and your child may gain some insight into how you think and feel about relationships and events in your lives, and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping scientists understand more about children’s development. You and your child will also be compensated for your time.
