A Study of the Contamination of the Robert J. Bernard Biological Field Station by Heavy Metal Particulates.
Bachelor of Arts, Chemistry.
Advisor: unknown.

Particulate matter was collected at the Robert J. Bernard Biological Field Station located adjacent 1978 and February 10 to March 30, 1979. The concentration of the trace metals, cadmium, manganese, lead and zinc, was determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The particulate residues were found to contain high levels or these toxic elements. The relationship between sample locations, which were equidistant from the roadway, and concentrations of each of the metals showed a random distribution. Recommendations for future studies and uses of the field station are proposed.
