Hello!
My name is Yichu—I am a senior at Carleton College. Along with a faculty member and an editorial board of around twenty other students, I help to publish the Undergraduate Journal of Humanistic Studies, a peer-reviewed academic journal that promotes undergraduate research in the humanities and social sciences. In the spirit of the liberal arts, UJHS seeks to be a multidisciplinary journal that accepts submissions from a broad range of subjects, demonstrating how student research, even at the undergraduate level, can be intrinsically valuable and interesting to an audience broader than professors.
Our editorial board is eager to expand the range of high-quality submissions—typically undergraduate theses and well-developed papers from upper-level courses—that we receive and thought that students at your institution might be interested in the opportunity to contribute!
We accept submissions of academic work on a rolling basis and publish two issues every academic year—a Winter Issue (sometime in February) and a Spring Issue (near the end of May). Papers submitted prior to midnight on December 7th, 2020 will be considered for publication in our Winter 2021 issue. Papers submitted after this deadline will be considered for publication in our Spring 2021 issue. Every author whose paper is accepted receives two physical copies of the Journal in addition to publication online. We have published papers from students at Carleton, Colby, Kenyon, Washington and Lee, Swarthmore, and St. Olaf and received submissions from students at Stanford, University of Chicago, Tufts, Middlebury, Vanderbilt, and more. This is an exciting time for the Journal, and we would be delighted to consider submissions from any student in your school or department.
