Happy winter break!
The Department of Linguistics and Cognitive Science is excited to announce a limited number of scholarships to attend the Annual Meeting of the Linguistic Society of America, which will be held virtually from Jan 7-10, 2021.
If you would like to be considered for a scholarship, please submit a (roughly) 2-paragraph application via email to both michael.diercks@pomona.edu and elizabeth.contreras@pomona.edu. In your application, please explain which talks/sessions you are interested in attending, and why (online schedule is available here). The application is not meant to be long and involved, but we would like you to have looked at the schedule and be able to explain to us what interests you at the conference.
Let me know if you have questions!
Best,
Info from LSA below:
- The Annual Meeting will take place virtually, from January 7-10, with ancillary events taking place outside those dates.
- The Annual Meeting will be held on US Pacific Standard Time (PST). The times listed on the online meeting schedule and in the volunteer sign-ups are PST.
- The deadline to request ASL interpretation is December 10, but it is likely that late requests can be accommodated. Read more about how to request interpretation.
- An online schedule is available here. Some events, such as committee meetings, are still being added as they are scheduled. LSA members can log into the website and click on the “Personal Schedule” tab on the Annual Meeting page to construct a customized schedule.
- (Virtual) Pop-Up Mentoring will be held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting. Read more about Pop-Up Mentoring and sign up as a mentor or a mentee.
- Anyone who plans on attending the meeting must register for it. More information about registration is available here. If you do not register, you will not receive a link allowing you to attend the meeting.
- A selection of minicourses is taking place earlier in the day on Thursday, January 7. Read more and register (for a nominal fee) for one today.
- We are still in search of session chairs to introduce speakers, make sure time limits are held to, and moderate discussion. Click here for more information and to sign up for no more than one session.
- More information for Annual Meeting presenters is available here.
