Meet the LGCS Student Assistants

What is a Department Student Assistant?

Every academic department at Pomona College has student assistants, who serve as intermediaries between students and faculty when there are important issues to be communicated back and forth. Student assistants also assist with department intellectual and social life in various ways, assisting with events, putting on their own events, and providing academic and social guidance to new majors in the department.

Who are the current Student Assistants?

        Janice Peng

Linguistics Major
Contact Janice

Hey there! I’m Janice (they/them), a sophomore at Pomona. I’m from Wisconsin and I like cheese a reasonable amount. Aside from linguistics-ing, I perform and compete with the 5Cs ballroom dance company and work as a mentor for Pomona’s Asian American Mentor Program. In my free time, I read, write, draw, and attempt to embroider. If you’re reading this I’m sure we have something in common, so say hi if you see me!

Cognitive Science Major
Contact Myra

Hello you beautiful people! My name is Mylo, a Junior majoring in Cognitive Science hailing from the vibrant streets of South Africa! My particular interests lie within the UX/UI space and the broader music industry. You’ll often find me walking around campus attached to my headphones exploring new music or designing various forms of art on my iPad. I am so excited to meet you all and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions (or music recommendations!)

“Hiya, Peter here! I’m a Pomona ling major, super excited to be working for the department this semester! I’m from Fayetteville, Arkansas (10th best place to live in the US). I find language to be supremely cool, so you’ll see me at Oldenborg everyday! Otherwise, come find me in Thatcher with the pianos.”

Contact Trisha

Hi! My name is Trisha (she/her) and I’m a junior at Scripps and a cognitive science liaison this year. I’m from Bellevue, WA, and in my free time I love to listen to music, take walks, explore cute cafes, and eat good food! I really want to get to know more people within this department (prospective or declared, linguistics or cog sci), so please feel free to reach out to me whenever to chat about anything LGCS or otherwise!
