Fall 2020 Cog Sci Courses

Hi all,

If you are like me, you find it challenging each semester to figure out all the cog sci courses being offered and how they count toward the cog sci major. Thus, Elizabeth and I have put together the attached lists of courses for Fall 2020 that meet requirements in cog sci, and we have laid them out both in the old curriculum and the new curriculum I described yesterday.  You can also find these lists on my cog sci website:

Hope this is helpful to you as you plan your fall courses!

Upper Division CS Courses

Hi all,

If you are pursuing the CS subconcentration within the cog sci major and are hoping to take any of their upper division courses (CSCI 101, 151, and 159 are the ones that count toward cog sci) in Fall, please note the following:

  1. You MUST fill out the survey that the CS department distributed for pre-pre enrollment.  I believe the survey ends sometime tomorrow.
  2. In the comments section, indicate that you are a cog sci major.  This is really important because without that acknowledgement, the odds of getting into the course are close to nil.  Even with the acknowledgment, there is no guarantee, but it might help.
  3. Do NOT tell them that you need that course to graduate because technically that isn’t true; any of these courses are not requirements per se, and they know that.
  4. Let me know if you are hoping to take one of the courses and which one(s).  You can also tell me why it’s imperative for you to get into the course (what’s the rationale).  This way, when CS reaches out to me, I can say that I knew about your interest in the course and can advocate on your behalf.

Thanks,

Lise
