Hello Ling/Cog Sci majors,
The Linguistics and Cognitive Science Department has a modest amount of funds that can be used for our majors to do summer research or attend summer institutes. In order to request funds, please complete the application at: https://forms.gle/miKcv4d9WFfoc72G8. The deadline to submit your request is Monday, April 25, after which we will review the applications and make decisions about funding.
We will not have enough money to fully fund all requests and will need to allocate the funds according to criteria including the research you will be doing, the type of program/event you will attend, your rationale, the amount of the request, and how well developed your application is, among other factors.
Please note that each college may have rules that limit students from holding multiple sources of funding. For example, Pomona students cannot receive funds from more than one Pomona-funded opportunity.

With respect to a local job opportunity for Pomona students, the Writing Center is now hiring Writing Partners and Speaking Partners for 2022-2023, applications due Friday, March 18, 2022. The Writing Center offers stable, rewarding, intellectually challenging work and they support all of their student staff members with mentoring, research support, training, and post-graduate networking. All Pomona students are welcome and encouraged to apply. They aren’t necessarily looking for the most pyrotechnic writers and speakers, but rather for students who have a developed sense of the revision process and a demonstrated ability to work with others as effective peer readers, listeners, and reviewers. They also have a few spots available for students particularly interested in visual rhetoric and communication in/with images. The application is here:
